[It's on a dank late November evening, just after the fall of darkness, when the bright fires in the common rooms are at their warmest and coziest, that a certain Slytherin might find himself not-quite-alone in the school hallway.
There isn't much of a warning, either -- just the fall of light footsteps behind him -- before someone's long arms enfold him from behind and someone's chin presses into his shoulder. It is a someone who smells of herbs, and whose winter robes are made from the finest wool...]
Ah, Ishida. [Cain is not generally this affectionate; indeed, a moment later he lets go and steps around to face Uryuu.] Heading to the old dungeon for the night?
Uryuu tenses and sends a sharp look behind him, his hand going for the wand in his pocket (no, he's not just happy to see you) before it clicks.]
...Hargreaves-san.
[Uryuu lolls his head back to send the Gryffindor a particularly unenthused look. It follows Cain around as he comes to stand in front of him. Certain gossip-hounds would be surprised to hear that was all the prickly Slytherin offered, considering his usual tolerance for... everything, really, but Cain is something of a special case. A family friend, inasmuch as either of them could claim to be close to the concept of family. ...Or friends.
Uryuu folds the long sleeves of his robe, giving the other boy a look-over.] You're lucky I didn't jinx you into a knot. I was considering turning in, yes. What are you still doing out? [he offers a teasing smirk] You'll need your rest if you're going to try out for Quidditch in the morning with the rest of your house.
Ah, yes, Quidditch. [He appears, for once, too distracted to dispense with the customary sneer, though it is hardly necessary between the two of them; Uryuu knows all too well about Cain's complete lack of physical prowess, and furthermore his disdain for such a plebeian sport.] I do so delight in freezing off various extremities of mine.
[Even that particular jab is without real heat; furthermore, his hands are oddly restless. He attempts to fold them across his chest, then to clasp them behind his back at something resembling parade rest, but neither position lasts longer than a second or two. Eventually, one flies back to Uryuu's shoulder to clasp it. Cain frowns at it, like the action is one that makes him uneasy.
Then he seems, at once, to come to a decision, as evidenced by the squaring of his narrow shoulders and the renewed strength of his fingers on Uryuu.] I was conducting an experiment. It went somewhat off-track. [His smile is, as usual, brilliant.] I think I need your--
--help.
[The last word is muffled, as he's thrown his arms around Uryuu again, and has, therefore, pressed his face to Uryuu's neck. (He has never been very tall.)]
